Meditation may improve brain potential to learn

In a study of California public school students, researchers found that meditation significantly helped poor-performing students improve their math and English grades, according to a study that was published in the journal Education.

After one year of practicing meditation, more than 40 percent of the students improved by one grade level in math.

"The results of the study provide support to a recent trend in education focusing on student mind-body development for academic achievement," said Dr. Ronald Zigler, study co-author.

The researchers did not speculate on how the practice helped the students, but author and philosopher Ilchi Lee has been saying for years that meditation can be a very effective tool for people to change and improve their brains.

Lee's Brain Education techniques involve individuals focusing on their brains to remove any negative energy and make room for the positive. The method may do more than help improve math skills, as he says that it has the ability to instill a kind of eternal love into a person, which can overflow into the human population as a whole and lead to world peace.
