Take steps to handle poor managers

There are a number of components to personal development and learning to deal with difficult managers or bosses at work can be one of the most important ones.

According to a recent CBS MoneyWatch article, there are a number of different types of bosses that can be tough to handle, particularly if they tend to over-manage.

Such bosses, often referred to as micro-managers, can be difficult to please because they are constantly looking for progress and always want to know exactly what a person is doing in the workplace.

As such, it is important to try to set deadlines with these managers in order to keep them from constantly hassling oneself. This can be beneficial for both parties, as it allows the employee to accomplish his or her work and be productive and allows the manager to focus on other aspects of the job.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, vague managers can make life equally difficult, as it can be a challenge figuring out what exactly the boss is looking for at all times. In these situations, one needs to work hard to pin down the manager and get a true gauge for what their vision is regarding certain tasks.

Learning to deal with difficult people at work is becoming increasingly critical as the unemployment rate sits at 9 percent and layoffs continue to occur around the country.
