Committing violent acts causes changes in the brain

In a study that was conducted at the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany, researchers found that violent prisoners had higher levels of gray matter in areas of their brains that were associated with desire, reward, antisocial behavior and psychopathy than those without a history of physical violence.

In fact, the scientists found that the more gray matter present in those areas, the more severe the psychological problems and aggressiveness in the individual.

Next, the researchers said they hope "to link the observed structural abnormalities to specific deficits in functioning assessed by both neuropsychological tests and behavior in the real world and to the interactions of genes and environmental factors."

Author, trailblazer and philosopher Ilchi Lee believes that the human brain has limitless potential to either bring about awakening and fulfillment, or to make a person negative and hateful. It is up to the individual to decide which path they want to choose.

Results of this study suggest that violent behavior stems from the brain and the negative energy that can build up in it. Through meditation, it may be possible to help reverse this harmful effect.
