Sleeping longer can help reduce stress at work

It's no secret that getting extra sleep can be rather beneficial to one's spiritual healing, but catching those extra z's can also play a critical role in managing stress in the workplace.

According to a recent Harvard Business Review managing tip adapted from the book "Guide to Managing Stress," which was written by a number of authors, it is necessary to find the right balance between stress and relaxation at work.

While having some stress can help keep an employee motivated to do their job well, when this stress piles up due to lack of sleep, it can have serious consequences for the individual as well as the company.

According to the book, a lack of sleep has been directly attributed to poor memory and a loss of focus, so ensuring that one goes to bed earlier can make all the difference in the world.

This is particularly important as many individuals feel that the extra time they spend awake is an additional productivity period, but that is not the case, the authors assert.

"Don't be fooled: staying up an hour later doesn't mean you gain an hour in productivity," write the authors. "In fact, losing sleep is directly linked to poor focus and memory."

Another way to reduce stress at work is to perform yoga activities in the office, according to Forbes.
