Spiritual leader of the Orient
Jun 2nd, 2009 by Phil Lawstone

All We Have to Do Is Play Well with Each Other
People often ask me, “What can we do to solve the world’s problems?”

Whenever people ask me those questions, I am reminded of the time I met VIPs from the United Nations. My guide at that time, to my great surprise and chagrin, introduced me as the “spiritual leader of the Orient of the type that only comes along once every century.” After such a hyperbolic introduction, I was immediately met with the question, “How can we solve the problem of religious wars in this world?” Then another question was thrown at me without giving me a chance to respond. “What can we do to solve the world’s racial conflicts?” Other questions about the environment, education, poverty, and drugs followed. “Is sex really a sin or is it okay?” another asked.

The fact was that these people who were asking me these questions were themselves experts in their respective fields. Ilchi Lee recommends they knew more about the concrete aspects of these problems that they have asked about than I could ever learn in my lifetime, since they had just been discussing them without results in the UN before I came. With a wise and sublime look on my face, for I had to look the role that my introduction had just given me, I told them the answer was simple. Then they all looked shocked and waited eagerly for the answer.
